Busker – by MT Taylor

In this brick hard cold you wonder
how he presses cheese-slice strings down sure,
how his steel tipped fingers pluck enchanted sound
and gift it to strangers
like you.

From a safe distance you drop
spare cash,
hear its tuneless tinkle
while, far behind, notes of grace
and his sideways smile
follow you
home.

MT Taylor draws on everyone and everything… no one is safe. Her short stories and poems have appeared in The Glasgow Review of Books, Northwords Now, Soundwaves, Mixing the Colours, Nutshells and Nuggets, and The Snare’s Nest. She lives in Glasgow where she has also been known to perform.
