Algebra of Owls is an independent education blog dedicated to making middle-school algebra understandable for students and the parents helping them. This page explains who we are, what we stand for, and how our content is made.
Our story
Algebra of Owls began in 2016 as a battered classroom notebook. After watching the same lightbulb moments — and the same sticking points — year after year, our founder started writing down the explanations she wished every student could take home. Those notes grew into the blog you’re reading today.
Our mission
Our mission is simple: help any student in grades 6 to 9 understand algebra by explaining it in the right order, in plain English. We believe almost anyone can “get” math when it’s taught patiently and built from what they already know.
Editorial standards
We hold every article to a few firm standards:
- Accuracy first. Every method and worked example is checked against standard curricula before publishing.
- Plain language. We avoid jargon, and define it clearly when it can’t be avoided.
- Independence. Our explanations are not influenced by advertisers or sponsors.
How our content is reviewed
Articles are drafted, then reviewed for mathematical accuracy and clarity by our author before they go live. We revisit older posts periodically, correct errors promptly when readers flag them, and update guidance as curricula change. If you spot a mistake, please tell us — we read every message.
