Independent Means – by Deborah Love

Despite my independent heart
Fabulous friends
Friction free family
And
Ever present wet nose of my furry familiar

Sometimes
What I need
Is an uncompromising lover
To wake with me in the dawn light
And tell me today will be just fine.

Dog Shit – by Deborah Love

Intimacy,
Great when you are feeling it.
Watching it?
Not so much.

That happy couple over there,
Holding hands,
Shivering with excitement.
They leave me cold.

Chasing rainbows
On a rainy day in any town.
Together,
I note to myself.

Should I tell them they are in danger?
About to step in dog shit?
Would they hear me shouting
So deaf and blind with love?

I do not shout,
Smirking at the sight.
But know

Jealousy
Great when you are watching it
But feeling it?
No, not so much.
